What are the leading database software options for enterprise-level companies?

Hi all, we're evaluating relational database solutions for enterprise-level use and would appreciate insights from others managing large-scale deployments.

We’re looking for tools that can handle high performance workloads, provide strong security and compliance, and support complex integrations across systems.

I found several top-rated platforms in the relational databases category on G2. Have you used any of these in an enterprise environment?

  • Amazon RDS: Fully managed with support for multiple engines like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server. Solid choice for teams already on AWS.
  • Amazon Aurora: Cloud-native and optimized for performance and availability. Offers scalability and high availability for mission-critical applications.
  • Microsoft SQL Server: Trusted enterprise solution with strong analytics, reporting, and data governance capabilities.
  • Google Cloud SQL: Managed relational database service on GCP. Easy to manage and works well with other Google services, including BigQuery.
  • Oracle Database: Known for robust enterprise features, high reliability, and advanced security. A go-to choice for industries with strict compliance needs.

If your company has adopted any of these, what has your experience been? Which platforms scale best under pressure, and how do they handle integration with other enterprise tools?

Would love to hear from others working in large-scale or regulated environments.

Has anyone used Amazon RDS at the enterprise level? Wondering how it stacks up in terms of performance and scalability compared to other options.
